"At RESILIENT PEOPLE we tell stories about EXTRAordinary people who inspire others with their resilience".
Hi! I'm Janet Fanaki. I live in Toronto with my husband and two children, adorable mini poodle Ella and our extended families.
Back in 2016, we were hit with some devastating news when my husband Adam was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
He was only 47 years old at the time. It was a big shock.
A full craniotomy, lots of medication, months of chemotherapy and radiation followed. It's been almost three years since his diagnosis and he continues to live a normal life again. It didn't come without some bumps on the road but here we are.
Our support circle gave us lots of love and help in the form of many hot meals dropped-off at the door, rides to appointments and a listening ear - that was priceless.
Days and months have been spent in the cancer centre. When I'm there I look around wondering how other patients deal with their challenges. What about anyone facing something hard? Do they rise above it and bounce back and how do they do it?
I took my background in public relations and created a website where I interview EXTRAordinary people and share their stories of resilience. This is how RESILIENT PEOPLE was born.
Some of the people you will meet are a teenager with autism who is a world-renowned artist; a man who created a foundation to comfort cancer patients in the wake of his wife's passing; and a woman who became an outspoken HIV, AIDS and hospice advocate when her husband passed away from the disease.
My goal is to inspire other people to get out of their ruts, find their platform to move forward. I want them to take a problem and make an opportunity out of it - a "PROBORTUNITY".
Do you know someone who should be profiled on RESILIENT PEOPLE? Please get in-touch through the social or email icons below. I'd love to hear from you.
I hope you love meeting these amazing people as much as I have loved talking with them.
