Hi there and thanks for stopping by RESILIENT PEOPLE. I'm Janet Fanaki, the creator of this feel good place, a three-time care partner, widow and Resilience Explorer. What's a Resilience Explorer and RESILIENT PEOPLE? Resilience Explorer is a self-described title for what I like to do -- people-watching and working to uncover "What makes some of us so resilient?" In 2016 my husband was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. We were only 47 years old at the time and it felt like our worlds were crashing in on us. My first step was to ensure that the people around us would be supportive and positive - both our medical team as well as friends and family. A former public relations specialist, around this time I began blogging and then recording conversations for my podcast. They were with regular people from around the world who were admired for their resilience. They lived through a major life challenge, found a purpose from it and were now helping others to be resilient too. The years following Adam's passing, I also lost my dad and mom within a short period of time. Yes they were sad times, but life around me also proved to still be adventurous, fulfilling and joyful. 'Life can be tough, but that's not all it is.' RESILIENT PEOPLE has become a way for me to connect with regular people from around the world who are admired for their positive mindset. My guests have faced a major life challenge, found a purpose from it and now help others to be resilient too. So what are some of the common traits that I've noticed in the people I have on the show? I truly believe that resilience isn't something that we are necessarily born with, but it's also something that can be nurtured within us.
